Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: The lot has room for maybe 6-7 cars off of Hurricane Mountain Road....HOWEVER...it is mostly slush and ice. I pulled in and tested my exit before I began my hike and almost failed. After about 15 minutes of the rock-n-floor routine I managed to swerve my back end about 90 degrees and barely got enough traction from the bank of the road to get me out (thankfully there were only two cars at one end of the lot when I got there and I parked at the other end). I have a small Hyundai so YMMV. Needless to say after this I started the conga line on the side of the road - with a few cars behind mine early in the afternoon. About 15 total vehicles when I left.

Trail Maintenance Notes

Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: On my way up I encountered a couple with 4 dogs on their way down - one of which was very aggressive and ill-behaved. I called for its owner to curb it twice as it was charging me but that didn't happen, though it didn't actually touch me either. Good thing it didn't. I passed three nicer pooches on my way down. One of the owners was concerned about the ice on the trail going up.
Bugs
Bugs: None.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: LOST: a black fleece Marmot glove, size medium for the left hand, most likely on the side of the road from when I left @ 12:30. If by chance found please drop me a line at trailsnpeaks[at]gmail[dot]com. Thanks!

Comments
Comments: The first half or so of the trail was alternating stretches of slushy wet snow and runny ice in the morning which became more wet and slushy as the day wore on. The upper half has a long stretch of runny ice followed by wet and slushy snow to the summit. I wore Microspikes all the way and was fine. I brought snowshoes but they never left the pack. I noticed two folks with crampons and one with snowshoes FWIW.

Nice views from the tower however the clouds occluded some of them. I shared it with one other gent this morning and apparently I left in time as I probably passed 15 or so on my way down. The conditions on the trail and the warm temps made it feel like spring. Nevertheless a very fun trail to a fine peak!
