Comments
Comments: from the glen house parking lot i followed the aqueduct trail up a paved driveway and into the woods briefly then started the bushwhack in a fairly direct line towards the peak. aqueduct trail in the woods and near the small pond is quite icy. snow cover off trail was minimal to non-existent to start, but after a few hundred vertical it became more consistent, though still minimal, and i went with snowshoes mostly for traction and to get them off my back. woods are quite open and mostly hardwoods with ample hobblebush down low until a pretty fast transition to coniferous woods as the grade steepens. i still found good going though the snow level decreased and became crusty or sometimes icy. there were some small cliffs and ice flows to work around which seemd to push me south and had the side benefit of leading me to an interesting if limited view to the presidential range. more consistent and deeper snow up high made for better going as grades moderated up to the summit plateau where i found some tracks from previous hikers. a short walk led to the recognized highpoint. nearby is a limited view to a couple carter range peaks. i went with the devil i knew and followed my tracks back down through the tricker woods deviating a bit farther down before again rejoining them until the snow disappeared.
