| Comments: |
There is new snow that fell Tues-We'd which has improved the ice situation somewhat. Wore spikes to about 3600 ft on MKT, snowshoes the rest of the day save for 0.2 mile stretch of KRT ascending STEEPS of Cannon, where I switched to crampons. Conditions on the middle part of MKT were stellar--styrofoam--and there were was about 6" new snow on the ridge. Trail over 'Balls was a gorgeous unbroken-out winter wonderland (my favorite part of today's hike), and I was very, very happy to have brought snowshoes.
Congrats to Fancypants for bagging the Kinsmans, and thanks to him for picking me up at the tram parking! |
