For the most part the trails were a mixture of dry and ice. We started off taking our microspikes on and off but soon decided to just leave them on. It was a beautiful day that felt more like April or May. In the morning we could see Portland, Maine and the sun shining off the Atlantic Ocean. We saw several groups of people, a couple of which didn't summit because of the ice and gusting wind. Crampons certainly could have been used on the summit and I saw one person wearing them, though it would have been challenging to get near the summit without walking on bare rock with them as well. I will be posting a full trail report on my blog eventually. |
