Comments
Comments: This loop is essentially snow free. About 6.7 miles in length.
Mt. Rowe Trail to Yellow Trail to Ridge Trail to Mt. Rowe was virtually snow free (a few very tiny patches that you'd have to go out of your way to step on) and generally dry, though there are a few mud patches on the Mt. Rowe Trail in the usual places (recent BRATTS work has drastically improved the situation).
Ridge Trail from Rowe to Gunstock was generally snow/ice free, with the exception of a few small patches of windblown from snowmaking this winter, and a patch of ice in the shade. No need for traction. Trail is wet in places, especially near melting ski slopes.
Ski trails still have close to full coverage (ski area plans to reopen this weekend), but grass is poking through. I went from the top of the chairlift to the herd path that cuts back into the Ridge Trail to save a little time/rugged trail.
Benjamin Weeks Trail from the Ridge Trail to the Mt. Rowe Trail had a few annoying mud patches, but isn't as bad as I've seen it in prior spring conditions.
