Parked at WV and did the short (0.66 mile) whack to Tripoli Road. Mt Osceola Trail up both Icy-olas, spikes for most of it but crampons between peaks today, and a bit of tree grabbing.
Met 5 other hikers who came up from Tripoli Road today. (Hi R, D, and E! Thx for the brownie!)
After O's, headed down Tripoli Road for Mt Tecumseh Trail and decided to "cut off the corner" saving mileage and elevation loss. As is sometimes the case, trail was located incorrectly on my GPS app (USGS MAP), so my shortcut involved an hour of bushwhacking through open hardwoods and lots of hobblebush. Zigged and zagged trying to find trail and finally hit it not much below 3000 ft! Probably would have been more efficient to stay on road to trailhead, but whack wasn't bad.
Snow came down most of the day, and at this point there was anywhere from 2-6" light fluffy powder over ice. Pretty winter wonderland in this lightly used section of trail! Spikes were sufficient for the ice on Tecumseh. At the sharp left I took the ski trail down. WV was closed so no blaring music today--yay.
