Date of Hike: Saturday, April 9, 2016
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: One other vehicle in Ferncroft lot at 7:45 am. Lot almost full with 20 vehicles at 2:15.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Ice - Blue
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment: Light Traction
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None were a problem, plenty of dry rocks for those brooks not large enough to step over.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Old Mast Road was in good shape, dry with no snow or ice until close to Lawrence Trail, I did not use traction on Old Mast Rd. Lawrence Trail had sections with ice and snow. I put on and took off micro spikes at least 20 times. Two noticeable blow downs on Lawrence but those are now gone. The higher you get on Lawrence the more ice - including one bad spot of about 12 to 15 feet length near the open ledges (see comment from Friday by other hiker). Took Kelley Trail back to Ferncroft. Snow and ice on upper 1/4 to 1/3 of Kelley trail, microspikes for this whole upper part.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: No dogs today.
Bugs
Bugs: Not yet
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Nothing on the trail or in the parking lot

Comments
Comments: Really nice day for early spring hike. Views through the leafless trees were interesting, esp. coming down Kelley and also looking up along Lawrence at the Overhang and cliffs. A thank you to solo hiker who helped me clear the brush that I was cutting on a medium size blowdown along Lawrence trail.
