Comments
Comments: Redlining the Belknaps.. parked at the end of Alton Mountain Road.. and after much confusion (even after reading every trail report I could find) we took (without realising it, even though it was our intention) the Blueberry Pasture Trail to Straightback Mountain Trail and the Straightback South summit. I say we took it without realising as I had expected to hike Old Stage Rd for 0.5 miles then take a left.. and that didn't seem to happen. So even though BPT was our goal, we didn't think we were on it until reaching the SMT intersection! We just thought we were on some random snowmobile trail that we continued to follow as it was heading up and in the right direction! We then took Straightback-Anna Trail to Mt Anna, and down Anna-Goat Trail to Old Stage Rd and the car. Gorgeous day to be out hiking. Trails were mostly dry, some areas of mud but we were able to navigate around most of these. The worst was actually the slippery dry leaves, particularly on the Anna-Goat descent. This is clearly not a well-used trail. While well marked and easy to follow, it was not well-worn, so leaf coverage was thick.
