I started my hike about 8 am, I headed up hill, east, on the pavement that is a driveway for a little house up above and I believe it is the Aquaduct Trail and I stayed on this until a little ways past a small pond. I entered the woods and hit a mountain bike trail which I followed a short distance after crossing a small brook. I went straight up and was able to go around every ice flow I ran into along the way. Forest are mixed and mostly open, nice for bushwhacking. After climbing some steep sections, there is a cliff band higher up and I lucked out and found a way straight up through it. The morning was still cold and moss was frozen so it made for good grip under my feet. I ran right into the recognized high point. I followed the reverse of my compass needle for the return trip and I enjoyed the nice obstructed views and appreciated spring conditions with the leaf-less trees. This ended up being a quick straight forward up and down hike. |
