Comments
Comments: Most of the trail was dry, predictably muddy in some spots. Ice was avoidable up until about last .5 miles before cabin, then spikes needed. If you do the loop as we did, there is much more ice on the north side of the mountain. Heading from Horn to Unknown Pond was icy and steep in parts. Spikes were enough, but we unleashed the dog because he was starting to slip in places. We managed fine, but other hikers slipped/fell that day on ice even with spikes.
