Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: plenty of room at Nancy Pond since we were the only car. Sawyer Road parking at the TH saw quite a few cars when we got there in the middle of the afternoon.

Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All crossings were either rock hoppable or there were logs for the crossings. Hiking poles were helpful
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails were in good shape for this time of the year. A few new blowdowns that could be stepped over. We removed some of the smaller ones, or cut off branches.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: A great hike for dogs. Pepper had no problems and enjoyed the many opportunities to dip and sip at the many water crossings.
Bugs
Bugs: Didn't notice any yet; even when we had lunch at the Stillwater Junction.

Comments
Comments: This was a great day for this long walk in the woods. John and Pepper got some red lining done and I got Mt. Nancy. The trail had only a few patches of ice going up along Nancy Cascades and a very short section heading up the herd path to Mt. Nancy. The herd path starts to the right at the outlet of Norcorss Pond. There is an established camp site and there is a fork just beyond it. Take the left path. It slabs along the slope for a while until you come to a slide. There the herd path heads up steeply alongside it, then begins to turn away from it to the right and shortly begins again a long, steep ascent. All this was completely dry. Towards the summit the trail again bears to the right and enters a thick growth of young evergreens. There is a short stretch of ice on a relatively flat part but it is easily passed. Surprised to see a nice sign on the summit with a beautiful view towards Mt. Washington and the eastern mountains towards North Kearsarge. Thanks to John and Pepper for a great hike.
