Some interestingly placed blow-downs on the lower portions of airline, making things fun. One blowdown on Valley Way almost waist high. |

Used bug spray. Bugs were out and very notable before Scar jct on Valley way. On Madison they were noticeable and the ones on Adams were just a nuisance. Ate my lunch about 15 ft below the summit signs where they were tolerable. Lower portions of the Airline were buggy as well, but it didn't matter since I was practically jogging back to the car and they couldn't keep up :) Hee Hee

I ascended Valley Way and descended Airline. Airline had a couple minor and avoidable ice floes. Some interestingly placed blowdowns on Airline as well. Fun to get around.
Almost did not select Light Traction, but it wasn't for Airline. It was for the last couple tenths of a mile before the Madison hut on valley way. You can spend lots of time rock-hopping and grabbing trees on the side the last couple tenths of a mile before the hut...I just put on my spikes and flew up the last bit to the sign then took them off for good.
Lots of French-Canadians. I heard more french than english - which I thought was very cool :)
Trillium (red and white) and Trout Lilly were in full bloom. Fantastic day in the Presi's! |
