Hutsman Trail is steep and I followed it past the brook crossing a short distance, almost to the Forest Boundary sign, where I entered the woods. I confess I went higher than I had thought about doing but I really lucked out on the bushwhack. I stayed high and dry and in mostly open woods with some nice moose paths. Hit recognized high point and attempted to follow reverse on my compass the same way I had come up. But I didn't check it as often as I should have and ended up heading more north and I crossed a rock hop-able wet area that I had avoided on the way up. Nice hike, lots of moose sign, limited obstructed views, lots of Trilliums in blooom. The Hutsman Trail parallels a small cascading brook and it was quite pleasant. |
