Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: Two tiny ones.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Nice map at the kiosk of the interpretive trail. One small blowdown along it. I pulled it a little to the side. Excellent work on new trails!
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Did not see any, but this would be good for them. Bring enough water.
Bugs
Bugs: Lovely meadows have their disadvantages. Two of those disadvantages hitched a ride back with me. Too windy and cold for black flies and mosquitoes.
Lost and Found
Lost and Found: Someone lost a button.

Comments
Comments: This was a great choice for today's weather. Sheltered for the most part from the high winds and intermittent rain. There are pamphlets for a guided interpretive hike at the kiosk. This was a nice alternative, because near the top of the meadow you can sit and look out at fantastic views. Just remember to check yourself later, because lovely grassy meadows come with a price! But I only had two and Prema had none. This area is somewhat overgrown, so you have to look carefully for the sign directing you into the woods for the Castleview Loop. And although this is a pretty path, the views are somewhat restricted due to trees maturing. When we got to the loop around the top of Mt. Crescent, we went counterclockwise. During the winter, we did not go that way, as it had not been packed out. This way is relatively flat and gentle for the first part and then climbs steeply to a view facing north. Then there is a pleasant woods walk to the second view. We could see part of the northern Presidentials, their summits were all fogged in. The descent was fast, I could not believe how soon I was back at the car. there is a new trail off the Mt. Crescent Trail heading back to the lot. I think it is called Cook Trail, but am not sure.

We saw possibly the last trillium of the season. There was a lot of trout lily throughout this hike. The roads back to the trail head were Lupine City. So once again I miss the Alpine Garden, but get to see lots of nice flowers anyway!
