We wanted a quick hike to get in and out of the area before Bike Week invaded the highway, we got lucky and hit no traffic. This little mountain is quite a gem for most of the hike we had it all to ourselves. Downes Brook trail is more like a road than a trail for the 0.3 that we were on it. Downes Brook was easy to get over as the water level is low. The whole area could use some rain though to wash all that pollen out of the air. The Mt Potash trail offers a lot of different hiking scenarios from dirt, boulders, roots to open slab all in one short hike. After the first lookout it is mostly open slab and the final push to the summit was the only place we started to breathe heavily. That may also been due to the fact that the humidity was raising. The views from the summit were hazy, but they were still views. :)
