Comments: Hibbard mountain. Hiked on 6 18 16. Parked at Ferncroft trailhead off rt 113a. Took Wonalancet range trail. Beautiful day, high 70's. Just a few bugs, but not enough to justify putting on any repellant. About 10 cars when we got there in the morning, but 45 vehicles when we came out. Get there early if you are going on a weekend. Only seen 1 other hiker heading to Hibbard. The rest of the 44 vehicles occupants must of headed up other trails. Very surprised to see the lack of people on this great hike, with some real nice southerly views. We also went to the ledge with westerly views, but had our lunch and spent the long break on the south ledge. This is a great easy hike, real nice forest transitioning from hemlock, to beech, to fir, more hardwoods, then back into spruce and fir. Lots of woodland birds around 2000 feet. Trail starts out pretty smooth then gets a bit rocky as it passes through a wooded rock rubble field, followed by tree roots, but all easily navigable. Trail well marked. Round trip about 5 miles with 1800 foot elevation gain.
