| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
Driving north on Corser Brook Road we went left on Valley Brook Road (turn is just before the big descent on Corser Brook Road). After crossing over a one lane bridge we took the next left marked by a ATV orange sign that read dead end .5 miles. We passed a camp named "Camp At Long Last" We parked at the end of the road ending at an old log landing. |

| Comments: |
We decided against trying to cross the ridge from Cave to Rice. From the end of the spur road along South Valley Brook we followed some old logging/skidder roads up and slabbing as east as we climbed. Off the road we bushwhacked through mostly fairly open woods and large fern glades. We stayed low and never hit the top of the ridge until we went straight south up to the summit. Moose Paths and "connecting the birch" trees kept us on the north side of the ridge. Lots of fern glades and we were able to stay out of thick woods and avoid blow downs by staying off the ridge but crossing a couple steep drainages that were okay but a little tricky. No issue finding the recognized highpoint because it is clearly next to the hp. We descended approximately the same way. This hike went extremely well time wise and we estimated it was about 4 miles round trip. We had plenty of time to find a place to camp well before suppertime! |
