Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: There is a new blowdown about 30 minutes up the East Branch Trail that upper limbs are in trail and no herd path has been established. And there were a few easy step-overs too. Trail foot bed is well worn, left over Jackson Ski Foundation blue diamond markers still blaze the trail well even after 30 years.

Comments
Comments: Thankfully the rain had stopped by morning and getting out of our tents didn't seem that bad but geez I am not sure I slept a wink. The noise of the rain hitting my tent was crazy loud. We decided to go for it and hope that the sun would come out. We hiked up the East Branch about an hour and half to reach intersection of the logging road. The logging road is growing in fast and we were totally car washed all the way. Most of the way we had a decent herd path and could follow the old road easily, we crossed a few drainages. At the first fork we took the left and followed it until it seemed to start to turn away from our goal. Bushwhack was thick at first and then woods were decent and we crossed many fern and birch glades. Higher up we stayed on the edge of some "faces" because the rock was wet but enjoyed some views under low clouds and spots of sunshine. We hit near the south end of the ridge and had close up views of the other Baldfaces and followed ridge north--nice peak. Thanks Becca and no bee stings today.
