Terrific day to revisit Gordon Pond and actually visit Gordon Falls. I got a little confused near falls and decided I went too far up trail so I cut into the woods about 100' vertical below falls on topo. Crossed brook and climbed up HUGE boulders with even bigger gaps. Could tell other people had been there by the pulled out brush and saplings along the river bed... REALLY treacherous!!!!! But amazing. Then, when I bushwhacked up further along the west side of the brook, I took a left fork that led to nice ledges with more HUGE boulders - really scary if you make a mistake in here!!! Turns out the falls were a bit above where I was - figured that out on the descent. No herd path to them - ?
From the falls area, Mt Wolf ridge was quite nice with peek-a-boo views to the pond. Pond was gorgeous - what a spot! |
