Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: Wild River Road in nice shape. Dusty today! Parking across from the Shelburne Trail for 3 or 4 cars. We spotted a car and drove back to the Rattle River TH where there's lots of room to start our hike.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Mud - Minor/Avoidable, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: All hoppable but the Wild River at hike's end was crossed downstream with a bushwack back to the trail.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trail in great shape. The "never-ending" stone steps on the Rattle River are best climbed in the dry. Crews are to be commended for placing all those steps! Amazing....The Kenduskeag is overgrown in spots after SM summit but easy to follow. Quite a few blowdowns on Shelburne Trail can be climbed over or by-passed.

Comments
Comments: 52 WAV...great peak, wonderful views in all directions. The Kenduskeag Trail was a highlight! Lots of bogs ( bridged), open meadows, a small pond, ledges, pretty woods, views everywhere. Worth the climb! We only saw one other hiker who had backpacked to the shelter.
