| Parking/Access Road Notes: |
we parked on the edge of rt. 26 in errol to the west of the peak at the start of a woods road (across from a blue house). there is some posted woods farther south along the road, but this spot looked good to go. a conversation later with a local resident confirmed it to not be a problem. |

we briefly walked up the road then took a line on the peak enjoying open hardwood forest most of the way up. we assumed the southern peak to be the highpoint, but decided to visit the northern one first in the name of due dilligence. just before the ridge the woods turned to evergreen up to a recognized highpoint at the southern end of the northern contour. that was the easy part. we then traversed the ridge finding lots of blowdown, scrappy spruce, and short cliffy ups and downs. the final push up to the southern summit was especially memorable. we found another recognized highpoint on a rocky knob that is covered in blowdown. my digital altimeter showed this spot as being a couple feet higher than the northern recognized point for what it's worth. views from this spot would probably be pretty great on a clear day. from there we headed down directly through a short sea of spruce before finding clear old skid roads and moose paths through spruce in an old cut. this eventually gave way to the nice lower hardwood forest back down to the car. |
