Comments
Comments: After we visited Signal Mt's fire tower, we drove down the road to bushwhack to Patience and Metalak (NH300 highest list). We hopped on a skid road leaving from the end of the log landing and we just kept following pointing right straight at Patience. We startled a moose that was resting on the skid road--lots of moose sign all over! The views of Signal and all around were nice with the clouds just hanging out above us. We were able to stay on skid road popping out on the south end of the summit ridge and a nice open whack north to the recognized highpoint. (found jar on ground and hung it back up below the yellow X). From Patience's summit we headed toward Metalak on moose herd paths. We followed them towards Millsfield into an open area with great views and then around thick stuff getting a little lower on the west side of the col but then of course a terrific moose path joining with an old skid road brought us right back up to the col and connected with another herd path that took us all the way to the summit. We retraced our way back down to the col and then traversed back down on skid roads to our car. Wonderful peaks, great vistas and our luck with the weather continued.
