Comments
Comments: We checked out part of the brand new Hedgehog Ridge Trail today, which links the SPNHF's High Five and Hedgehog Mountain Forest properties in Deering. Wow! Great views from the open ledges and interesting, varied terrain along the ridge.

From the parking area, it's a 0.2 mi. walk along the road to the trail proper. It's a short 0.8 mi. up to the summit. Fantastic views from the open ledges looking west. This would be an amazing sunset spot. From the summit, we hopped on the new ridge trail which meanders south across the ridge through many interesting areas of terrain. At one point, the trail wraps around a high, steep talus field, which I may or may not have climbed. ;)

We headed south on the ridge until we hit the old woods road depicted on the SPNHF map. This was mostly easy to follow, but does intersect several other woods roads, which had us scratching our heads a couple times. If you go this way, a few areas to watch out for. The road comes to a T intersection, where you should go left. Shortly after is a gate, where another road leaves right. Continue straight past the gate. Where the road is brushed in, there is a signed and flagged relocation to the left. Follow this a short ways to another woods road. The flagged trail continues straight, I'm assuming back up to the ridge. Don't go that way. Turn right and follow the road around the relocation to the original road you were on. From here, follow this all the way back to the trailhead.
