Date of Hike
Date of Hike: Sunday, November 13, 2016
Parking/Access Road Notes
Parking/Access Road Notes: There were only a few cars in the lot on this day. The drive to this mountain from tgevAshlsnd exit is itself beautiful. Also, there is an outhouse available a short walk from the parking lot, on the camp grounds.
Surface Conditions
Surface Conditions: Dry Trail, Leaves - Significant/Slippery
Recommended Equipment
Recommended Equipment:
Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: None
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: This is an easy hike with no scrambling to a summit with 180 degree views. There is also a pre-summit ledge view over Squam Lake and a false summit with views. The trail was covered in a thick coating of dry leaves for much of the way, which was slippery, and required careful footing as the rocks and roots were hidden. We took our time and enjoyed the unseasonably warm weather, which had us hiking in tshirts and tank tops much of the way. No snow or ice on the trail at this time.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: We saw none, but unless dogs are disallowed, this would be a great hike for a dog.
Bugs
Bugs: There were some flying bugs at the ledge view over Squam Lake, but they didn't bother us.
