| Water Crossing Notes: |
Wore spikes on Liberty and Lincoln Brook crossings due to icy rocks. Water levels are relatively low. |
|
| Trail Maintenance Notes: |
FP counted 32 blowdowns on Owls Head ridge, 20 just between the "old" summit and "new" summit. With boots and hiking poles, we cleaned/unplugged lots of water bars/drainage areas on Lincoln Brook Trail. We like the idea of less Brook, more Trail. :D |

Lincoln Woods Trail, Black Pond Trail, bushwhack, Lincoln Brook Trail, Brutus Bushwhack, Owls Head Path
Someone has painted yellow blazes on the Black Pond bushwhack/herd path, mostly on trees but some on rocks, too. These blazes have obviously been scraped over in an attempt to erase them. Not sure why someone would need such aids for the easiest BW in the world, but there you go... Last couple of times I've done this route it's been in the dark, and I either didn't see them, took a different route, or they weren't there yet.
Didn't see a soul out there all day. Winds were quite blustery--good day for Owlie. :) Only about an inch of snow the entire way. |
