Comments: Wellllll this was interesting. We road waled for about 1.25 miles on a logging road and then went up son skidder roads but due to the snow we could not see a lot of the water that was running down everywhere. We finally got into the woods and started to head to to the col of the east side of NW Crystal. We ran into a gigantic moose about 20-40 feet away from us. We found his bed after we followed his tracks for only a minute from where we had seen it. We actually saw this guys tracks multiple times in the day. We got caught up in a bog which was a mess. Everyone got there boot at least once stuck in the mud (on the way down Andy got it past his knee). When we finally got past this we hit the col. We made a beeline right to the summit. Well this was a thick mess/blowdowns. I thought I was not going to be able to get through it at times but I just plowed through hoping we would get there so it was slow going. We finally got to the top and just out of luck looked to my left and there was orange surveyor tape on a tree. I looked closer and saw the canister was above it covered by a branch. There was over a foot of snow up there. We were quite cold and tired with not much daylight left (only 2 hours). We wanted to head out a different way but due to the time it took to drive in and get up to the summit we opted for the quicker and faster way out. Following out snow tracks. It is crazy how following your tracks in the snow will save you for time and effort. We already have 4 of us crash through the area and we were back down in no time to the roadwalk. We made it back to the car and now the roads were nice an icy on the way out. Saw many hunter's cars out there but not sure how much longer the road will be open.
