Water Crossing Notes
Water Crossing Notes: The first crossing of Charles Brook on Baldface Circle was surprisingly difficult due to high and fast flowing water. We ended up going downstream maybe sixty yards, found a dry boulder without ice, and took a leap of faith. Steve, with longer legs, nailed the landing and then extended a helping hand to John who followed.
Trail Maintenance Notes
Trail Maintenance Notes: Trails looked good, with one old blowdown on Mt. Meader flats in the area of the bog bridges.
Dog-Related Notes
Dog-Related Notes: Dogs would have no problem in today's trail conditions, but we saw what almost surely were the footprints of a large black bear on Meader Ridge.

Comments
Comments: The trails had everything, from bare with heavy leaves down low to good snow cover of 5-6 inches on the ridge. The snow was crusty with good grip getting up on the ridge, so no problems today. One of us wore spikes on the higher trails, the other light crampons. Great hike, great views, and great company. More snow would be welcome.
