Comments
Comments: I went to the height of the land and slabbed under cliffs to the col on the south end of the mountain; little snow and slippery leaves. The ledges to the south on the other bump were amazing and I found an grown in skidder path that took me right up--I confess I was getting concerned if I could get up there until I found this nice grade in open woods. From the col to the summit alternated between patches of thick spruce and open woods. The last bit to the summit was a blow down mess but the nearby summit ledge's vista to Chocorua and the sisters was worth the effort. On the return I thought I'd try a more direct descent and even though the hobblebush was difficult it was nice to look up at the ledges so closely. I would have made better time if I had retraced my route. This was a lovely day, if you read this far I will disclose that I visited the bump to the south before heading to the correct summit and that was hard work but I stood on top of that huge ledge in a large blowdown area. I found a moose antler and left it behind.
