Comments
Comments: Bare booted to Zealand Hut. Caretaker was happy to see people. Donned spikes for accent of Zeacliff making first recent tracks. Changed to snowshoes when a young hiker caught us from behind wearing his, and said it was easier. He was right. Wore snowshoes to about a mile below Bondcliff summit then changed to spikes. Used caution descending the rock precipice below Bondcliff summit. About 8-10 inches of powder snow along Twinway. Made a nice base for future use. Lots of leaners as mentioned above. Bondcliff had ice covered rocks and crusty snow/ice but manageable with snowshoes. Saw first fresh boot tracks from summit which came up from south. Able to smooth out those tracks on descent. Saw no one all day. It was a cold blustery day above treeline with limited views. Feels good we can still do this, but it is getting tougher. Long day, and out in the dark with Claudette, Paul, and Barb.
