Comments
Comments: Boothman Spring Cutoff to Cook Path. At the juction of Cook Path with the Ice Gulch Trail we took off into the woods and buschwhacked to summit

Fran Maineri and Gordon DuBois hiked with snowshoes in 12 new inches of powder snow. It made the hike slower than expected. Boothman Spring and Cook Path well maintained and blazed. At the junction of Cook Path and Ice Gulch trail we headed in the woods, bearing in a northerly direction. Hiked through fairly open woods with bothersome hobblebush. Nearing the top of the ridge we ran into thick spruce and blowdowns. Needed to slab further north of peek to ridge. Followed ridge through thick spruce and blowdowns with Fran playing bulldozer. Found canister under snow laden spruce boughs. Lesson learned: Cold temps. made GPS inoperable. Had to depend on the reliable map and compass. Camera also froze.
