Comments
Comments: Great hike today with lots of sun on top of mountain. This trail is packed down well with a few tricky areas of ice going up where the microspikes were a little sketchy and crampons would have been helpful but overall just a lot of snowshoe tracks frozen in place from rain after last snow. Snowshoes not needed but snow is coming tomorrow so that may change! The summit was a different story. Very windy and easy to post hole trying to get around rocks to summit. Had to brace for the wind to keep balance and bitter cold! Decided not to finish to full summit and went to ledge below summit as the rock was covered with a film of ice and full crampons would have been much safer. Saw another climber turn around as well even in full crampons. Lots of hikers having a good time either way. One guy said Piper wasn't as packed down which surprised me.
