Comments
Comments: A little bit of everything today. Nineteen Mile brook Tr. was packed solidly with much exposed rock and lots of ice. Carter Dome Tr. up to Zeta Pass and Carter-Moriah Tr. out to Middle Carter were packed solidly unless stepping off trail. Big thanks to those breaking them out as it must have been tough with the crusty layer on top. Carter Dome Tr. from Zeta to summit broken out but not close to being packed. Same with Carter-Moriah from Middle Carter to North Carter jct.. North Carter Tr. and Imp Tr. were packed out fairly well. Lots of ice on Imp Tr.. One section on lower Imp went from long stretch of leaves and bare ground back to significant powder and Camp Dodge Cutoff had not been touched in a while with 12" of powder under crust. I used microspikes mostly; definitely helpful with the ice. Used snowshoes on upper part of Carter Dome Tr. and unfortunately broke one on the way down as there was lots of twisting going on. Would have used them from Middle Carter to North Carter Tr. and possibly on Cutoff (if feeling energetic) if shoe had not broke. Quiet day; only heard hikers coming up from Carter Notch side while on Carter Dome; no hikers actually seen. Nice day; winds less than predicted and views were awesome.
