Comments
Comments: Wore snowshoes roundtrip and never thought otherwise.

Avalon Trail to the junction was fairly well packed and made for good snowshoeing. Above the junction to Avalon it was generally good going. Lots of drifting in the col adjacent to Avalon and in places up to Field. Snowpack up to 3 feet deep.

Also lots of drifting between Field and Willey. The one quasi-scramble below Field was a bit sketchy due to black ice and roots sticking up, made worse later on by barebooters who fell down it. Lots of drifting between the peaks. Snowpack 3 to 4 feet. Saw a pair of barebooters, one of which was struggling.

No sign of recent activity ascending Willey from Ethan Pond.

Nice snowshoe track from Field to the Tom col. Mt. Tom Spur was also generally a good snowshoe track, with a decent bypass in place for the one quasi-scramble. We broke out the quasi-view spur to the Presis near the highpoint (plenty of powder).

Looked like some snowshoe activity at some point heading down A-Z toward Zealand.

Good snowshoe track down from Tom back to Avalon.
