Comments
Comments: Snowshoes car to car.

Hi-Cannon had 1-4" of new snow but a decent packed base. Ladder (see photo below) was more of an ice ramp, so ice axe or whippets would be nice. I made it up with just poles. Normally tricky top section was easier than in summer (in my opinion). I tried to pack it down as a flat platform. Snowshoes with "televators" are almost a pre-req. Would be hard climbing without! Small conifers will shower you with attention!

KRT going down Cannon toward Coppermine Col had a few tricky sections, requiring butt-sledding and careful foot placement.

Considered doing KRT over Cannonballs, but two steps onto the trail convinced me that descending Lonesome Lake, then re-ascending via Fishin' Jimmy would be the better bet. Glad I did!

Fishin' Jimmy and KRT beyond Kinsman Junction is well packed out (mostly snowshoers).
