We were the only car parked on the side of the road at the Pine Bend Trailhead. No parking lot here. Just parking on the side of the road, but The road was plowed wide enough to leave plenty of room for three or four cars. |

Snowshoes door-to-door. The trail was hard packed, and micro spikes would have been OK, but would have resulted in the occasional post hole. The trail is in great condition, though it got a bit loose in the steep switchbacks about 2.5 miles into the hike. Just two of us on this hike, we didn't see anyone else all day, but saw lots of moose tracks. The steep sections were challenging, as was the cold (-3° and our 9 AM start).
We had planned to go to Middle Tripyramid as well, but decided to call it a day on the north summit, as it was our first cold weather hike of the season and the cold temps were taking a lot out of us. The hike down some steep sections was challenging, and aided by some very enjoyable butt sliding.
Snow conditions up to North Tripyramid or about as good as it gets. It looked like the trail have been broken out over to the middle peek. A wonderful winter hike.
