Comments
Comments: We were the first ones on the trail today - unpacked snow called for snowshoes. Ranged from crunchy and sticky down towards the bottom to knee-high powdery drifts at the top. Hiking partner forgot snowshoes and used microspikes so there are a number of postholes. We did an out and back and encountered another snowshoer on the way down so the Avalon Trail is fairly well packed by now, but with rain that'll obviously change! Trails to Mt Avalon and Mt Field were not packed out at all - snowshoes definitely recommended.
