We took the snowmobile trails up to the powerlines northeast of the peak. At the powerlines, we followed a snowmobile trail straight across. We quickly realized that this was not helping much directionally and we began the bushwhack. The surface had a crust, which sometimes held us, but more often broke. Initially we sunk several inches to a foot. The woods were mainly open, with some tighter going higher up, but never bad. Knee depth snow was not encountered until we were very close to the top. We checked a few bumps, soon finding our way to the recognized highpoint. We followed our tracks out. Great conditions and route for this one. |
