Found a pair of microspikes in the parking lot, looks like they were accidentally left there when someone drove home. They are with the ranger at the parking lot. |

Trail conditions were tough today: hard, bulletproof ice covers much of the trail. Our 2 year old microspikes were in need of sharpening so they were of little use. We spent most of the time rock-hopping in our spikes just because the traction was better. Crampons came along for the ride, but we took our chances with the spikes rather than dealing with the tripping and ankle twisting that tends to come with wearing full 10-12 point spikes. |
