Comments
Comments: The herd path and trails were all well packed. Trails were easy to find including Firewarden trail. We wore spikes for the first 2 1/2 miles then switched to snowshoes to prevent the minimal slipping we had. One in our group used spikes all the way and no post-holing occurred. We saw two pairs of hikers and one solo and that was it for the day. Others in the parking lot seemed to be going to the twins. On the descent in the birch forest we did see fresh ski tracks! Some tight turns in those trees. We had a couple brief breaks of sun on the way up and light snowfall onthe way down which wasn't enough to change trail conditons. Nice way to get to Hale.
