Saw a few. The trails were fine for dogs, but it was a really windy day so from the summit to Crawford Path might have been hard for them. |

The trails are well broken out so snowshoes were not needed. No ice at all either. There had been a lot of newly fallen snow so the woods were stunningly beautiful! We used microspikes from the trailhead to the hut, then some of us switched to crampons for the steep section after the hut. The ladders are not even visible, what with all the snow! Some of our group stayed in microspikes and they did fine. The summit is beautiful, everything is covered with snow, but be careful; it was a little difficult to find the trail from the summit to Crawford Path. There had been other groups doing the loop in the opposite direction, but because of the high winds, their footprints were obliterated. And the cairns were totally snow covered and difficult to distinguish from the small pines which were also snow covered. Look for the ankle high sign if you're not sure. This was a beautiful hike. |
