Comments
Comments: Did this one with the Random Group of Hikers. The plan was Hale, Zealand, and Bonds today. The roads were miserable and the driving was slow. Took longer than expected and started later than planned.

There were faint tracks along the herd path to Haystack Road and along North Twin Trail but they didn't go far up Fire Warden's Trail. They soon went right (obvious trail corridor left) and were never seen again. Thought might be some shortcut but who knows where they went to. Spent most of the trip to Hale breaking out the trail - the fresh snow in most places was about 6"-8" deep with deeper drifts here and there.

Once at the summit of Hale the decision was made to turn around. It was cloudy, cold, and the winds were whipping. They sounded a lot more fierce in the distance. We figured that if we went to Zealand we would likely turn around anyway and no one was interested in re-clmbing Lend-a-Hand Trail.

Saw about twenty people out there today. There was only one other hiker out there (Ken M) and the rest were backcountry skiers.
