Comments
Comments: Weather was interesting - warm, partly sunny, temps about 32°F midday to early afternoon. Variable wind, was strong with drifting snow from Grey Knob to Adams 4, then less from there to summit of Adams. Was very windy on Madison summit (> 50mph), not possible to stand. Dozens of people were out criss-crossing all of the mountains. Snow is very deep at 4,000', 4-5 feet. It seems that few trails were packed down, Lowe's, Airline, and Valley Way; none of the crossing trails. Above 4k/treeline, the wind has blown off the snow, so trail packing not critical. Snowshoes seemed ideal, though some hikers were wearing crampons or microspikes.
