Trails are firming up nicely. The Avalon Trail is well packed all the way to the Avalon Spur. After that, the trail is a bit less packed but still pretty solid all the way to Field. Heard reports from several descending hikers that the trail over to Willey had not been broken out. When we arrived at the summit there were a couple of packs dropped and I believe that a pair of hikers were making their way over to Willey from Field. Very windy on the summit of Field so we didn't stay long. The Range Trail over to A-Z Trail was a bit less consolidated but still fairly firm. Lots of ducking and a couple crawl unders due to the snow depth, probably 5-6 feet on the ridge. Mt Tom Spur was fairly solid and straight forward. A-Z down was well packed as well. Started seeing a lot more post holes on the way down along with the buttsled luge that had been set up on the Avalon Trail. Overall a great day. |
