Road is bare asphalt as of today and parking is available near trailhead and in lot further down Bangor St. WATCH OUT FOR SNOWMOBILERS!!!! They come right through the lot down the street. |

Lots of face-slapping branches after Mt. Surprise. A couple blowdowns that you have to go under. One of them requires crawling and is about 3.5 miles up. |

Beautifully packed out trail that bare booters are valiantly trying to destroy as fast as they can. Looks to have been postholed yesterday by a couple people and about half of the 13 other hikers I saw today were bare booting also. Several peeps in snowshoes at the end, however, so there's hope. There was A LOT of melt happening today. Snow was almost spring-like and will definitely require snowshoes if this weather keeps up. Otherwise, a lovely hike under mostly blue skies (until about 1 miles below the summit) with great views from both peaks. |
