Comments
Comments: it was a quick hike for almost 2.5 miles on corser brook road which is well packed by groomers and snowmobiles. soft and wet on top today. i then took a right turn downhill on a prominent, but unmarked, logging road. one snowmobile had been out that way recently and i followed its tracks down and over the bridge over corser brook then took a left at a fork.

i continued on the road for a couple minutes then headed up into a large cut on the southwest side of the peak on an obvious old skid road. i headed on a bearing towards the peak through open cuts and skid roads crossing over a southwest ridge of the peak. snow was deep, but often semi consolidated with a heavy wet layer on top. on average i probably went in 6-8 inches if i walked gingerly with occasional posting in. the top of the ridge had too much regrowth spruce and hobblebush traps so i angled down, crossed a drainage, then hit a nice series of skid roads. these various skid roads took me to within almost 200 vertical of the peak. from there the woods were steeper with mostly open going up to the summit area. snow was less consolidated in the shaded woods and a lot of buried spruce around the summit necessitated careful stepping. the recognized highpoint was a bit north of where i hit the summit area. the canister was mostly buried in snow though the lack of snow on the spruce made it pretty easy to spot anyway. this may not be the case if we get another good storm even through i excavated a bit around it.

i descended in my tracks posting in a fair bit in the woods, but once out on the skid roads the going was much nicer. some fine views from the cuts to nearby peaks in the millsfield area.
