The Old Toll road was in good shape. The White arrow trail started out muddy with some avoidable ice but quickly became more ice and less rocks to hop on. The warm temperatures made the ice soft and easy for microspikes to grip most of the time. The ice was pretty thick near the top before the treeline. Above treeline there was little ice or snow patches and the summit was all rock. Traction is recommended especially if it gets colder and the ice refreezes. We took a side trip up to Monte Rosa. That trail has some snow patches and a little ice mostly near the top when we put our microspikes back on to be safe. |
