Comments
Comments: My recommendation don't take the trail from the parking lot on 302. Snow not as well consolidated and yesterday was soft. We beat it up to the road after switching to snowshoes. Snowshoes stayed onto the rest of the way. The road was also soft but much easier than the trail. At Signal Ridge trail became well consolidated and get this---actually fairly smooth. Not to many barebooters and the warm temps / cold temps had consolidated the snow to the best track since the heavy snowfall a couple weeks ago. There were many partially open little brooks but none an issue as there was plenty of snow. As mentioned the crossings were fine with waterproof equipment. The long climb normally has a sidehill but this year that is minimal. Even with the high snow there are not many faceslapping branches. Signal Ridge was beautiful as always with good views in all direction under high storm clouds. We beat the weather back to the cars. 40/48SSW4K
