Comments
Comments: the snowmobile trail looked to be deteriorating fast with numerous sections of bare ground and dirt. some areas of good packed walking along with icy patches. some spotty coverage at the start of old summer club trail then conditions became quite nice higher up with signs of prior winter use and firm, grippy footing. some fresh powder on top of the trail and on the trees. the steeper sections up to the saddle between the peaks had good coverage with just a couple minor tricky parts where the trail traverses along a small cliff before the col. nice deep solid snow heading up north percy to the start of the open ledges. the ledges were a mix of bare rock and ice with powder on top in places. we started up in snowshoes, but soon switched over to crampons up to the summit where the views were fantastic and the winds surprisingly calm. the upper descent was straight forward, but the two lower ledge pitches were a bit trickier due to the mix of surfaces. back in the trees we switched back to snowshoes and headed to south percy. beyond the trail sign we missed the trail somehow, but picked it up again above the cliff out of the col. from there it was fairly easy to follow to the summit. some pretty deep snow provided nice traction on the steeper pitches. a bit windier on top than the north peak and more great views.

descending we figured we had it made following the trail proper back to the col, but lost it again above the cliff and ended up doing a short bushwhack back to the old summer club trail. from there it was a nice descent back to the car at christine lake.
