Comments
Comments: Late start around 10 am. Didn't think I was going to see anyone but to my surprise I saw 6 other hikers up there. Skipped first crossing by doing Black Pond Bushwack. River was fast, full, no bridges left at first crossing. So thankful for bushwack. Trails were hardpacked, icy, with traces of snow powder on top. Didn't need any traction till Slide, then wore Hillsounds n didn't take them off till the end. I knew there was someone ahead of me n finally found them at the intersection of Brutus Bushwack/Slide. Slide was difficult, could use ice axe n crampons. Even thought about turning around n finding the Brutus Bushwack. Fresh single snowshoes track kept me going. Met n Thanked Craig for marking the trail up to Slide. Other hikers took Brutus Bushwack up n down, n I followed their track later descending. There was a view towards East from the summit, assuming Bonds. Hydrated; rested 5-10 minutes in a very chilly mountaintop n ran/jogged back to car. If you are planning OwlsHead this winter, go before warm weather returns. Those ice bridges will not hold up too long.
