Cold, keep moving to stay alive kind of day. The ice axe was very useful on the steep section up the south side of Willey. Found a fair amount of freshly covered hidden post holes especially down Avalon trail, but not terrible. Micros used the entire hike. Did not find it worth stopping to change and fiddle with traction options due to brutal air temperature, so snowshoes and crampons stayed strapped to the pack. Was a good day to have a well trained Corpsman along with me, great company. |
